20 new violations for not wearing helmets in Eastern Macedonia & Thrace
A total of 996 checks were carried out last week as part of the “Zero Tolerance for Helmet Non-Use” campaign conducted by the General Regional Police Directorate of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMT). Between 17 and 23 November 2025, officers recorded 20 violations related to failure to wear a protective helmet.
The campaign aims to ensure the gradual and widespread compliance of users of motorcycles, mopeds, tricycles, rental vehicles without cabins, and Light Personal Electric Vehicles (LPEVs).
During targeted inspections conducted by Traffic Police Services in the Police Directorates of Kumçiftliği, Dedeağaç, Rhodope, İskeçe, Kavala, and Drama, officers checked riders and professional delivery drivers for compliance with helmet regulations. The violations confirmed included:
- 13 violations by motorcycle/moped drivers
- 2 violations by passengers on two-wheelers
- 5 violations by drivers of LPEVs (Light Personal Electric Vehicles)
The police emphasized that inspections will continue as part of efforts to improve road safety in the region.
