18th Ketenlik Youth Festival concludes successfully

The 18th edition of the Ketenlik Youth Festival, organized in Ketenlik village under the jurisdiction of the Mustafçova Municipality, was held on 8–9 August.

The festival, organized by the youth of Ketenlik, officially opened on Friday, 8 August.

The opening ceremony was attended by Türkiye’s Consul General in Komotini, Aykut Ünal, and his wife İlayda Ünal; İskeçe New Left MP Hüseyin Zeybek; İskeçe Independent MP Burhan Baran; Mustafçova Mayor Ahmet Kurt; FEP Party Deputy Chairman Bahri Belço; İskeçe Turkish Union President Kerem Abdurahimoğlu; WTMUGA President Hüseyin Baltacı; the Chairman of the Consultative Committee and Mufti of İskeçe, Mustafa Trampa, represented by Religious Services Branch Director Rıdvan Topçu; regional council members; local officials; representatives of sponsoring companies; community leaders; and many members of the local Turkish minority.

Plaques were presented to individuals and organizations who made material and moral contributions to the event.

Throughout the festival, the audience enjoyed theatrical sketches, fashion shows, dance performances, and traditional folk dances by the İskeçe Turkish Union troupe, all of which received great applause. A concert performed by young musicians trained by music teacher Özcan Kalfa was met with a standing ovation.

The festival took place at the Ketenlik football field and was open to the public free of charge. Various stalls showcased and sold different products.

Two Nights of Concerts

On the first night, Friday, 8 August, well-known artist Panos Kalidis performed late into the night. On the second night, the popular Turkish band Adamlar took the stage, thrilling thousands of young attendees who filled the festival grounds.

The event was sponsored by the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Region, Mustafçova Municipality, BONSİNK, SSG, Montanos, DORUK, and the Union of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Municipalities. Over the two days, the festival attracted thousands of visitors.

The festival’s organizing committee expressed gratitude to all guests and locals who attended, and conveyed hopes to reunite at the 19th Ketenlik Youth Festival next year.
