Türkiye’s YTB marks 16th anniversary with vision for “building the future”

The Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) marked its 16th anniversary with a special ceremony in Ankara, emphasizing its long-term vision of strengthening identity and shaping the future through global engagement.

Speaking at the event, YTB President Abdulhadi Turus said the institution has evolved into a strategic “human capital builder,” aligned with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s broader “Century of Türkiye” vision.

🌍 Focus on Global Reach and Identity
The anniversary program, held at the agency’s Anadolu and Rumeli Cultural Halls, included a comprehensive review of YTB’s activities over the past year and outlined its strategic priorities for the future.

Turus stressed that YTB was founded with the mission of connecting with Turkish citizens and communities worldwide, adding that the institution continues to expand its outreach through cultural, educational, and diaspora-focused initiatives.

“We are not only addressing today’s needs but also building a human legacy that will shape tomorrow’s world,” he said.

⏳ “A Turning Point” After 16 Years
Describing the 16th anniversary as a symbolic milestone, Turus said the institution is entering a new phase that combines accumulated experience with renewed dynamism.

He highlighted that the anniversary represents both a moment of reflection and a strategic turning point for future decision-making, particularly as global conditions become increasingly complex.

🌐 Criticism of Global System and Gaza War
Turus also addressed broader geopolitical developments, arguing that the post-World War II global system is showing signs of deep structural strain.

Referring to crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine war, and the conflict in Gaza following the October 7 attacks, he said these events have exposed systemic inequalities and weaknesses in the international order.

He sharply criticized the international response to Gaza, describing it as a “dark period” in which humanitarian principles have been disregarded.

🤝 Looking Ahead
Closing his remarks, Turus thanked YTB staff for their contributions and emphasized that the institution’s strength lies in the dedication and commitment of its workforce.

The event concluded with a group photo, marking the end of a ceremony focused on both institutional achievements and future ambitions.
