The programme aims to support the academic and professional development of young members of the Turkish diaspora living abroad while connecting them with Türkiye’s defence and technology ecosystem.

Young engineers meet YTB president

An opening meeting for the 2026 interns was held at YTB, where the selected engineers met YTB President Abdulhadi Turus.

Turus highlighted the importance of connecting young people studying engineering and technology with Türkiye’s defence industry and technology ecosystem.

He said participants would have the opportunity to work with expert teams, gain first-hand experience of corporate operations and strengthen their academic knowledge through practical training.

The programme will also include cultural activities designed to introduce participants to Türkiye’s history and cultural heritage and allow them to explore different cities.

Programme expands with new partners

The Türkiye Internships Programme was launched in 2023 in cooperation with Turkish Aerospace Industries under the name “Sky Global Türk”. It has since expanded through the participation of additional defence industry companies.

With ASELSAN joining the programme in 2026, along with TEI’s online internship programme, the number of participating organisations has risen to six.

The programme targets qualified young engineers studying abroad, particularly in countries including Germany, France, Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Students studying aerospace, software, mechanical, electrical and electronics, and industrial engineering undergo a competitive selection process.

Three internship periods planned

The 2026 programme will be held in three periods.

The first period at TUSAŞ runs from August 10 to September 4, while the second at ASELSAN runs from August 17 to September 11.

The third period will take place from September 7 to October 2, with TUSAŞ, ROKETSAN, HAVELSAN and STM participating.

The programme is designed to strengthen professional links between young members of the Turkish diaspora and Türkiye’s growing defence and technology sector.
