Abdulhadi Turus officially appointed as president of YTB

Abdulhadi Turus has been officially appointed as President of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), according to a decree published in the Official Gazette of Türkiye on March 6, 2026.

Turus had previously been appointed as acting president of YTB by a presidential decree on July 14, 2025. His new permanent appointment formalizes his leadership of the agency, which coordinates Türkiye’s outreach to overseas Turkish and related communities.

Congratulations from Former YTB President

The former YTB President and current head of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), Abdullah Eren, publicly congratulated Turus on his appointment.

Sharing his message on social media, Eren said:

"I congratulate my valued friend Abdulhadi Turus on his official appointment as YTB President. Having worked alongside him for many years, I have witnessed his sincerity and dedication firsthand. I firmly believe he will advance YTB’s mission even further. May God grant him success. Congratulations."

Background: Abdulhadi Turus

Born in 1982 in Stuttgart, Turus completed part of his primary education in Germany and secondary education in Elazığ. He earned his bachelor’s degree in International Relations at Near East University and a master’s degree at the Faculty of Political Science, Ankara University.

Turus began working at TİKA in 2011, later serving as Private Secretary and then as Prime Minister’s Advisor in 2014. From 2018, he served as Vice President of YTB, overseeing projects reaching millions of Turkish citizens and communities across the Balkans, Central Asia, the Caucasus, the Middle East, and North Africa, including groups with Ottoman heritage.

He also spearheaded the construction and coordination of the Traditional Sports Facility in Ankara, which hosts equestrian activities, traditional archery, and a 20-class Culture and Arts Academy. In 2022, he served as vice chairman of the organizing committee for the 4th World Nomad Games held in İznik, Bursa, which brought together 3,000 athletes from 102 countries.

Abdulhadi Turus is married with two children and is fluent in English and German.

His permanent appointment marks a continuation of his commitment to strengthening ties with Turkish diasporas and related communities around the world.
