Türkiye launches 2026 literary support program for kin communities abroad

The Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) has announced that applications remain open for the 2026 edition of the Kin Community Literature Support Program (SEDEP), an initiative aimed at promoting literary and cultural production among Turkish kin communities living abroad.

The application period, which opened on May 1, will continue through July 31.

SEDEP seeks to support literary works produced by Turkish communities outside Türkiye, expand their reach to wider audiences, and strengthen cultural exchange across borders.

For 2026, the program’s central theme has been designated as children's literature. YTB emphasized the importance of children's literature as a key tool for cultural transmission, highlighting its role in language development, identity formation, and fostering a sense of belonging among younger generations.

The initiative aims to encourage the production of high-quality literary works for children, supporting projects that stimulate imagination while strengthening cultural ties. According to YTB, the program represents an investment not only in today's children but also in the preservation of cultural memory for future generations.

Under SEDEP 2026, support will be available in several categories, including writing grants, translation assistance, publishing support, promotional funding, and digital publishing projects.

Applications can be submitted through the program’s official website until July 31.
