A 4.6 magnitude earthquake shook the Aegean Sea near Gökçeada, off the coast of Türkiye's Çanakkale province, at 8:18 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).

A 4.6 magnitude earthquake shook the Aegean Sea near Gökçeada, off the coast of Türkiye's Çanakkale province, at 8:18 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).

The quake’s epicenter was recorded 12.6 kilometers below sea level, causing mild tremors felt across nearby coastal areas.

Authorities reported no injuries or structural damage, but continue to monitor for possible aftershocks. No tsunami warning has been issued.

Located on a seismically active fault line, the Aegean region frequently experiences such tremors. Experts are urging residents to stay alert and follow earthquake safety guidelines as seismic concerns persist in Türkiye.
