Youngster Kostoulas turns things around for Olympiakos
Olympiakos has extended its lead at the top of the Super League table through its come-from-behind win over Aris, while Panathinaikos and PAOK dropped points.
Five days after beating Panetolikos 2-0 away, the Reds defeated Aris 2-1 on Saturday in a game where the visitors from Thessaloniki led by half-time via a Loren Moron goal. However, young supersub Babis Kostoulas scored five minutes into the second half and six minutes into time added-on, to give the league leader all three points against 10-man Aris.
AEK has climbed to second thanks to its 2-0 win against Athens Kallithea on Sunday. Central defender Simos Mitoglou and Erik Lamela were on target for the Yellows, in a game that was stopped for over half an hour in the second half due to the torrential rain.
Panathinaikos dropped two points at Serres, drawing 2-2 with Panserraikos. The Greens led 2-0 with Tete and Adam Cerin, but two goals from joint top scorer Jefte Betancor gave the hosts a share of the spoils. Nevertheless, his second came from a highly controversial penalty he earned by dropping to the ground from a supposed headbutt by Panathinaikos keep Bartlomiej Dragowski, who was sent off, though TV replays pointed to some serious playacting.
PAOK thought it had all three points in the bag against Volos, but the visitors scored twice in injury time to win 2-1 for their first victory ever at Toumba. Mady Camara put PAOK in front before half-time, yet Mark Koszta and Pedro Conte scored after the 90th minute for a famous win for Volos.
In Sunday’s other game, Atromitos won 3-0 at bottom team Lamia.
On Monday Panetolikos travels to Asteras Tripolis and OFI hosts Levadiakos.
Olympiakos is on 40 points from 18 games, AEK reached 37, Panathinaikos got to 36, PAOK stayed on 33, Aris has 27 and Panetolikos is on 23 with a game in hand.
