German football sets all-time ticket sales record

Germany's top two professional football divisions recorded a record 21.4 million ticket sales during the 2025-26 season, with a combined total of 21,404,258 tickets sold.

Average attendance across both leagues reached a record 34,974 spectators per match.

Bundesliga ticket sales rose 9.1% to 12.7 million, with average attendance increasing to 41,562 per game, helped by the promotion of Cologne and Hamburg, both of which have large fan bases and high-capacity stadiums.

Stadiums remain close to full capacity

Bundesliga stadiums operated at an average occupancy rate of 96.1%, with Union Berlin, Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich and St. Pauli recording full capacity throughout the season.

Borussia Dortmund attracted the highest average attendance with nearly 80,000 spectators per match, followed by Bayern Munich and Hamburg.

The Bundesliga also recorded higher average attendances than Spain's La Liga and Italy's Serie A during the 2025-26 season.

The average Bundesliga ticket price was €30.77, while fans in Bundesliga 2 paid an average of €24.34 per match.
