Fenerbahçe appoints İsmail Kartal for fourth spell as head coach
Fenerbahçe has appointed İsmail Kartal as head coach for a fourth time, marking another chapter in the long-standing relationship between one of Türkiye’s most successful football clubs and the experienced Turkish manager.
Kartal, who previously served three separate stints in charge of the Istanbul-based side, returns with extensive experience both as a former player and coach within the club’s structure. Throughout his previous tenures, he achieved one of the highest points-per-game averages among domestic coaches in Fenerbahçe’s history and helped guide the team through several challenging periods.
The appointment comes as the club seeks renewed stability and momentum ahead of the upcoming season. Kartal previously led Fenerbahçe to strong league performances and earned widespread support from supporters for his management of the squad during difficult transitions.
Club officials expressed confidence that Kartal’s familiarity with the institution, its supporters and its competitive ambitions would help strengthen the team’s domestic and European campaigns.
The veteran coach now faces the challenge of meeting high expectations at a club that continues to pursue major silverware both in the Turkish Süper Lig and continental competitions.
