Mobile internet use rises sharply in Greece
Mobile internet usage in Greece continued to grow strongly in 2025, with the average subscriber using 15.2 GB of mobile data per month, according to a new report by telecommunications consultancy Tefficient.
The figure marks a 22% increase from 12.5 GB per month in 2024, reflecting changing consumer habits as mobile data has become more affordable and operators have introduced larger and unlimited data packages.
Despite the increase, Greece ranks in the middle of the 40 markets examined by the study and remains well behind the world's highest users. Latvia topped the global ranking with an average of 56.5 GB per subscription each month, followed by Saudi Arabia and Finland.
At the other end of the scale, Tunisia, Oman, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong and the Netherlands recorded average monthly usage of 10.8 GB or less.
The report notes that rising data consumption does not necessarily translate into higher revenues for telecom providers, as growth has been driven largely by lower prices and improved mobile plans. In Greece, the average monthly revenue per subscriber remained around €14, with customers receiving significantly more data for roughly the same cost as in previous years.
