Greece is advancing a broad digital transformation strategy in 2025, spanning child online protection, digital health, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and space technologies, according to Digital Governance Minister Dimitris Papastergiou.

A key initiative is the Kids Wallet, which integrates European age-verification standards to help protect minors online and enable parents to manage children’s access to digital services. In healthcare, the National Electronic Health Record has been launched, alongside AI-powered tools such as the Citizen Health Assistant and the Digital Doctor Assistant.

Artificial intelligence lies at the core of the strategy. The national supercomputer “Daedalus” is set to begin operations in spring 2026, while legislation approved in late 2025 paved the way for the AI Factory “Pharos,” positioning Greece as a regional AI hub in Southeast Europe. Additional AI infrastructure projects include new regional “AI Factory Antennas” and a planned AI supercomputer in Kozani.

Progress has also been made in digital public services, with 9.3 million citizens now using a personal identification number for state transactions, and the upgraded Gov.gr Wallet becoming a central communication platform between citizens and the government.

The digital push is strongly supported by the EU Recovery Fund, financing more than €3.3 billion in digital projects. Greece has also expanded ultra-fast broadband, digitized hundreds of millions of archive pages, and launched several micro and nano satellites under its national space program.

Officials say the overall goal is a people-centered digital transformation that combines technology, innovation, and everyday usability to improve quality of life.
