Wildfire in Eğriboz out of control: 4 firefighters injured

A large wildfire that broke out in the Pissonas area of Eğriboz Island continues to rage out of control, causing widespread damage and injuries.

The blaze has already destroyed critical infrastructure in the region. Two fire trucks were engulfed in flames, and four firefighters sustained minor injuries. They were transported to Halkida State Hospital for treatment.

Firefighting teams are battling the flames under extremely dangerous conditions due to thick smoke and strong winds, which have significantly reduced visibility. Both ground and aerial efforts are facing challenges, with some aircraft unable to approach the affected areas safely.

Residents in Pissonas received an emergency alert via the 112 Civil Protection system, urging them to evacuate immediately and head toward Afrati. Several poultry farms and livestock facilities in the vicinity have also suffered damage.
