Upcoming payment updates for Market Pass, Youth Pass beneficiaries
The end of the month is expected if the platform - only for young beneficiaries - for the Market Pass will be opened, while September seems to be the month of payments, since in addition to the accuracy allowance, the Youth Pass will also be paid for young people who will reach both 18 and 19 years of age.
It should be noted that those who have already received the first part of the allowance do not need to reapply.
According to reports, the preferred scenario at this time is to have a (!) one-off payment for Market Pass recipients, probably at the end of September. Then or perhaps a little later - early October - the Youth Pass payment is also timed, with reports suggesting that it may not be necessary to open an online platform for this.
It has been reported that the online platform for new applications is expected to be opened at the end of August, and it will be the new beneficiaries who will enter it, not the old ones, since for them the process will be automated and those who have applied in the first cycle will not have to do anything at all.
It is estimated that around 2.8 million households will be beneficiaries of the new cycle for the Market Pass.
The general features of the Market Pass for the August-October 2023 period will be exactly the same as the previous period and the only difference will be that the 2023 tax return will be taken into account, i.e. income earned in 2022.
The amount of the aid per household is 10% of the monthly amount of purchases, which is 220 euros for a single member household, plus 100 euros for each additional member up to 1,000 euros of purchases.
The same income (up to 16,000 euros for a single person, 24,000 euros for a married person plus 5,000 euros for each child after the first) and asset criteria (up to 250,000 euros for a single person, 400,000 euros for a married person) remain the same.
The aid is granted in the form of a digital debit card or a bank account. If the beneficiary opts for the digital card, the aid can be used for purchases in food shops and farmers' markets.
Furthermore, the digital debit card will remain active until 31 December 2023. If the beneficiary opts for credit to a bank account, he/she will receive 80% of the aid, which can be used without restrictions.
The Youth Pass, worth €150, will be given to 18-year-olds and will also be given retroactively to those who have turned 19.
Beneficiaries will be those who have reached the age of 18 or 19 by 31 December 2022. At the same time, a prerequisite is that they must have Taxisnet codes.
