Two Greek groups linked to Antifa designated as foreign terrorist organizations by U.S.
The U.S. State Department has announced that two Greek groups accused of ties to Antifa will be added to the lists of Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs) and Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs). According to AMNA, the organizations named are Armed Proletarian Justice and Revolutionary Class Self-Defense.
According to the statement, the designations are part of a wider initiative to counter violent Antifa-affiliated groups in Europe. The U.S. says the move builds on President Trump’s directive to disrupt networks that engage in political violence under the banner of “anti-fascism,” citing their use of anarchist and Marxist ideologies, including anti-American and anti-capitalist positions, to justify attacks.
The State Department stressed that Washington will continue using “all available tools” to deny funding, resources, and safe haven to such organizations.
Armed proletarian justice
Armed Proletarian Justice is described as a Greek anarchist and anti-capitalist group responsible for attempted and successful IED attacks on government targets. It claimed responsibility for a bomb placed near the Greek riot police headquarters in Goudi on 18 December 2023.
Revolutionary class self-defense
Revolutionary Class Self-Defense, another Greek anarchist and anti-capitalist group, links its activities to broader political causes, including opposition to state policies and expressions of solidarity with Palestine. The group claimed two IED attacks: one on the Ministry of Labor on 3 February 2024, and another on Hellenic Train offices on 11 April 2025.
The designations are expected to take effect on 20 November 2025.
