A large number of Turkish companies from Türkiye participated in the Posidonia International Shipping Fair organised in the capital Athens. Türkiye's progress in the maritime sector and export potential were introduced within the scope of the fair.

A large number of Turkish companies from Türkiye participated in the Posidonia International Shipping Fair organised in Athens, the capital of Greece.

Organised every two years in Athens and bringing together the leading companies of the shipping industry from all over the world, Türkiye was represented both with national participation and individual participation on the basis of companies.

14 Turkish companies took part in the 400 square metre pavilion of Türkiye, which was established under the coordination of the Turkish Ministry of Trade and organised by the Ship, Yacht and Services Exporters' Association (GYHİB). The number of Turkish companies participating in the fair together with individual participants was 69.

Turkish Ambassador to Athens Çağatay Erciyes and Greek Minister of Maritime and Island Policies Hristos Stilyanidis had a short conversation with Turkish companies.

Sector representatives from all over the world came together at the "Turkish Maritime Sector" reception organised by İMEAK DTO within the scope of the fair.

Ambassador Erciyes evaluated the Turkish participation in the fair to AA correspondent.

Emphasising that the Posidonia Fair is one of the most important maritime fairs in the world, Erciyes said that the fair, which is organised every two years in Athens, had the highest participation from Türkiye to date.

Erciyes reminded that Türkiye has made great progress in the maritime sector, especially in the last 20 years.

Stating that Türkiye's maritime trade fleet ranks 12th in the world, Erciyes said, "Türkiye is among the leading countries especially in the shipbuilding sector. Especially in tugboats and special type ships. Therefore, participation in this fair is very important. It will contribute to the promotion of our country's maritime sector. We think that it will contribute significantly to our bilateral relations with Greece and our bilateral trade volume target of 10 billion dollars."

Cem Seven, President of the Ship Yacht and Services Exporters' Association (GYHİB), stated that the Posedonia Shipping Fair is an important tool in the development of bilateral relations between Türkiye and Greece.

Seven said, "Our country has an important place in the world in ship and yacht manufacturing and exports. Turkey has 2023 world championship in tugboats, which are considered as special-purpose, specially built ships. Turkey has also been the world champion in fishing boats. In special-purpose vessels, our country is really at the forefront."

Stating that the Turkish companies represented at the fair also have good relations with Greek companies in the sector, Seven said that Turkey exports marine equipment to Greece.
