Topisidis holds productive meetings in Xanthi
On 16 April 2025, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace’s Regional Governor, Christodoulos Topisidis, spent a productive day in the Xanthi Regional Unit, engaging in meetings aimed at promoting development projects, fostering collaboration with local authorities, and resolving immediate local issues.

Governor Topisidis began his day exchanging Easter greetings with the employees and managers of the Regional Unit’s services, expressing his gratitude for their cooperation and highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen human resources and digital organization. During the signing ceremony for the “Development of the Environment at the Athena Research Center in Xanthi” project, he emphasized that this initiative supports innovation, research, and the integration of scientific advances with the local community. The project is being implemented with technical support from the Development Agency PERI EXELIXIS, an organization critical to advancing the regional development policy in benefit of local communities.
LOCAL COLLABORATION
In his regular consultations with first-tier local elected representatives, the governor held successive meetings with the mayors of Xanthi, Topiros, and Myki. Discussions focused on addressing each municipality’s specific challenges, including infrastructure improvements, road safety, support for the agricultural sector, and immediate concerns affecting citizens’ daily lives, such as financing measures for essential equipment like fuel tankers.
SPORTS AND COMMUNITY
The governor also showcased his commitment to local sports by attending the 1st International Under-16 Boys Basketball Tournament, organized by the Lefkippios Athletic Club of Xanthi with support from the Municipality of Xanthi and the region. He engaged with young athletes and applauded their efforts. Later, at the Avato Xanthi stadium, he enjoyed a football match between home team Aris and visiting Orestis Orestiadas during the penultimate round of the third national group. Concluding his visit, Topisidis observed the Great Wednesday rite at the Zoodochos Pigés Church in Evmoiro, exchanging Easter wishes with local citizens.
