Greek authorities arrested three individuals in separate incidents for violating fire prevention bans during the peak wildfire season.

Incidents Near Athens and in Northern Greece

According to local media:

Near Athens, one person was arrested for lighting a fire next to a pine forest. The individual received a €2,000 administrative fine.

In two separate cases on August 17, one person was detained in Polyoroz (Poligiros), Halkidikya (Halkidiki), and another in Çatalca (Farsala), Larissa, for starting fires. Together, they were fined €4,000.

Strict Enforcement During Fire Season

Authorities stressed that bans on open flames and outdoor burning remain in strict effect throughout the wildfire season, warning citizens to exercise extreme caution to prevent blazes.
