Warning of "high risk of fires across the country"

Defence Minister Nikos Dendias announced on Twitter that the armed forces are also supporting the firefighting efforts across the country.

According to the Radio and Television Corporation ERT, the Greek Fire Brigade cancelled all personnel leaves until further notice, citing the high risk of forest fires across the country.

In the news, it was announced that teams from Poland, Slovakia and Romania, to which Greece requested assistance, have started to arrive, and two firefighting aircraft will be sent from Israel.

Authorities warned that "there is a high risk of fires across the country" as the heat wave will start to take effect from today.
