Temperatures up to 39°C amid typical August conditions
Sunny skies are expected across most of the country, with scattered cloud developing during the warmest hours over the Ionian Islands and the mountainous areas of western and northern mainland Greece. Isolated showers or thunderstorms are possible in the mountains of Epirus and western Central Greece.
Morning and evening visibility may be locally reduced, particularly in western regions.
Temperatures will range from 21°C to 38°C in northern Greece, although western Macedonia will be cooler with highs of around 33°C.
Central and southern Greece will see temperatures between 22°C and 37°C, with Thessaly expected to reach 39°C.
Western Greece will record highs of up to 38°C, while the Cyclades and Crete will experience milder conditions with temperatures reaching 34°C. Highs of up to 37°C are forecast for the eastern Aegean islands and 34°C for the Dodecanese.
Winds in the Aegean will blow mainly from the north, reaching 4 to 5 Beaufort across central and southern areas. In the Ionian Sea, light westerly winds are expected, occasionally strengthening to 4 Beaufort.
In Athens, sunny weather is forecast with temperatures between 26°C and 36°C, although northern and eastern suburbs will be slightly cooler.
Thessaloniki will also enjoy mostly sunny conditions with a few clouds over nearby mountains during the afternoon and temperatures ranging from 25°C to 35°C.
Meteorologists say the weather remains typical for early August, with hot daytime temperatures accompanied by the seasonal meltemi winds across the Aegean Sea.
