Temperatures are expected to rise across Greece on Sunday, reaching 36-37°C in the mainland, according to the National Meteorological Service.

A further increase is expected from Monday, although no heatwave conditions are forecast for the coming week.

On Sunday, temperatures will range between 34 and 36°C in most mainland regions, reaching up to 37°C in central parts.

In the Ionian Sea, the eastern Aegean islands, the Dodecanese, and southern Crete, temperatures will reach 32–34°C, while in the rest of the island regions, they will range from 29 to 31°C.

Some temporary cloud cover is expected only in mountainous areas during the midday and afternoon hours.

High risk of fire on Monday

A very high fire risk (risk category 4) is predicted for Monday, in Attica, Crete, and areas of Central Greece, the Peloponnese and North Aegean, according to the Fire Risk Forecast Map issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection (civilprotection.gov.gr).

Specifically, a very high fire risk is predicted for the following areas:

- Attica

- Central Greece (Region of Boeotia, Region of Evia)

- Peloponnese Region of Corinth, Region of Argolida)

- Crete

- North Aegean (Region of Lesvos, Region of Chios, Region of Samos, Region of Ikaria)
