Protest at Greek Consulate in Berlin draws attention
German media highlighted a protest that took place on Tuesday, October 12, at the Greek Consulate in Berlin. According to Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, a group of demonstrators entered the consulate's reception area and attempted to send an email demanding the release of individuals arrested in connection with an explosion in Athens on October 31. The consulate staff intervened and prevented the email from being sent.
Berliner Zeitung described the protest as an "occupation" by leftist extremists, noting that the group entered the building posing as visitors and later refused to leave. The protesters displayed banners with names—Marianna, Dimitra, and Kyriakos—calling for their release. Additionally, around 20 supporters gathered outside the consulate on Hiroshima Street.
According to RBB24, police intervened and detained the protestors on charges of "violation of domestic peace," recording their identities. The protest concluded around 1:00 p.m. local time.
