Poll slide deepens pressure on SYRIZA
Support for SΥRΙΖΑ has fallen by nearly three percentage points over the past 12 months, according to all major polling firms, intensifying concern within party headquarters at Koumoundourou.
A year ago, the party’s average polling figure stood at 6.5%. Today, it hovers around 3.6%, marking a significant shift not only numerically but also in how voters perceive its political weight.
The decline is consistent across companies. Pulse records a drop of 2.5 points, Opinion Poll 2.7, and MRB 2.8. GPO measures a 2.2-point fall, while Interview and Metron Analysis show declines of around three points. The steepest drop is reported by ALCO at 4.3 points.
No survey shows signs of stabilization or recovery. Most place the party’s upper range near 4.5%, with several measuring support close to the critical 3% threshold.
Analysts say the downturn affects more than electoral arithmetic. Lower ratings limit the party’s ability to shape the political agenda and weigh on voter psychology. With 2026 beginning at weaker levels than 2025, party officials are searching for a turning point that could reverse the negative trend.
The broader political landscape adds to the pressure. PASOK maintains its independent course, while both the political system and voters await potential moves by former prime minister Alexis Tsipras later this year.
Without a convincing strategic reset, analysts warn, the downward curve may continue in the months ahead.
