Poll shows ND lead intact as Karystianou’s popularity surges

New Democracy (ND) party continues to hold a clear lead in voter intention, according to a poll conducted by Interview for the news website Politic.

ND leads with 23.2%, followed by PASOK on 11.6% and Plefsi Eleftherias (Course of Freedom) on 8.2%, while undecided voters account for 21.6%.

Other parties trail further behind, with Greek Solution at 6.6%, the Communist Party (KKE) at 5% and SYRIZA at 3%.

The poll found that the OPEKEPE farming subsidy scandal and protests over the deadly Tempi train crash were seen as the most significant developments of the year, together making up more than half of responses. The subsidy scandal ranked first with 29.5%, followed by Tempi-related protests at 24.8%.

Maria Karystianou, the mother of a victim of the Tempi rail disaster and a leading figure in the campaign for justice, emerged as a prominent public figure. Among hypothetical new political parties, 53% of respondents said they would support one led by Karystianou, compared with 23% for a potential party headed by former prime minister Alexis Tsipras.

Karystianou also topped the ranking of “figure of the year” with 24.3%, ahead of Zoe Konstantopoulou, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Tsipras, highlighting her growing influence in public opinion.
