During a friendly volleyball match between the men’s national teams of Greece and Israel held in Athens, several spectators who unfurled Palestinian flags and chanted pro-Palestinian slogans were detained by police, according to reports.

During a friendly volleyball match between the men’s national teams of Greece and Israel held in Athens, several spectators who unfurled Palestinian flags and chanted pro-Palestinian slogans were detained by police, according to reports.

Members of the activist group “March to Gaza Greece” stated on social media that some of their members displayed Palestinian flags and voiced support for Palestine during the game. Police intervened, detaining several individuals from the group.

In their statement, the group emphasized, “We are fulfilling our duty to history and will continue to do so.” A later post confirmed that all those detained had been released.

“March to Gaza Greece” also announced plans to hold pro-Palestinian demonstrations on August 10 in popular tourist areas and islands across Greece.
