New STEM Environmental Education Center to be established in Xanthi

The Democritus University of Thrace has announced the launch of the EcosySTEM project, aimed at establishing new STEM education centers in the Xanthi region to foster sustainability and environmental awareness. Financed by the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Cooperation Program, this initiative promotes collaboration among research teams from Greece, Türkiye, Bulgaria, and Ukraine.

The project’s inaugural meeting was held in Istanbul, where the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Andonis Gasteratos, emphasized the importance of integrating new technologies into education. He highlighted that these centers will support the development of a new education model by combining technology with environmental awareness.

The STEM centers will offer specialized training to both students and faculty, focusing on environmental protection and raising awareness.
