New Left Party announces presidential Candidate

New Left Party leader Alexis Haritsis announced the party's nomination of Hristos Rammos, former Vice President of the Council of State and current President of the Communications Privacy Protection Authority, as their candidate for the Presidency of Greece.
Speaking from the parliamentary podium, Haritsis described Rammos as a committed public servant, a judge who has vigorously defended democratic institutions and the rule of law. He particularly praised Rammos for his courage in speaking out against the unprecedented wiretapping scandal.
Haritsis urged all parties in the democratic opposition to set aside partisan considerations and support Rammos, emphasizing the importance of upholding the rule of law during what he described as a time of crisis for Greek democracy.
The term of the current President, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, who was elected on March 13, 2020, will end in March 2025. Haritsis stated that addressing this matter now reflects both political seriousness and institutional responsibility.
