New Ferry Route launches between Limni and Çanakkale, strengthening Aegean connectivity

A new international ferry connection between Greece’s Limni (Limnos) Island and Türkiye’s Çanakkale has officially begun operations, marking a significant step in expanding regional maritime transport links across the northern Aegean.

The route connects Çanakkale’s Kepez Port with Limnos’ main port in Myrina, offering a direct sea corridor between the two shores. Operated by a fast catamaran service, the journey takes approximately 2.5 hours and is expected to facilitate both tourism and short-term travel between the two countries.

Officials and operators have described the new line as a strategic development for regional mobility, particularly as Limnos becomes more accessible to Turkish visitors under existing visa facilitation schemes for selected Aegean islands. The service is scheduled to run multiple times per week during the operational season, with fixed departure times from both ports.

The launch is also seen as part of broader efforts to strengthen economic and cultural ties across the Aegean Sea, with local stakeholders anticipating increased tourist flows and commercial exchange.
