Mitsotakis presents “MyStreet” App to tackle public space violations
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday unveiled MyStreet, a new digital application designed to enhance legality and transparency in the use of public spaces. The presentation took place at the Maximos Mansion.
“Just as it happened with MyCoast, which brought order to our beaches, I am sure that MyStreet will also bring order to our streets and squares,” Mitsotakis said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the full rollout of the platform depends on municipalities integrating their data into the system. He encouraged mayors to cooperate, noting that they, too, stand to benefit politically by supporting citizens’ demand for free and legal access to public spaces.
With MyStreet, citizens will be able to check in real time whether public spaces have been legally allocated and to report possible violations directly through the app. The platform will also be used by municipal employees and police officers to monitor and enforce compliance.
“This is a tool that empowers citizens and local authorities alike,” Mitsotakis noted, underlining the government’s aim to curb illegal encroachments, which he said remain a recurring problem both in cities and in tourist destinations.
