Large decrease in the population rate in our region

The population in the region of Eastern Macedonia - Thrace is decreasing rapidly every year. The region is facing a demographic problem.
In the region of Eastern Macedonia - Thrace, a significant decrease in the population rate was observed in 2022.
According to the surveys, deaths in the region were more than twice as high as births. Last year, 8,371 people died in the state, while the number of newborns was 3,884.
According to data from the Hellenic Statistical Institute (ELSTAT), the birth rate in the country decreased by 10.3 per cent compared to the previous year.
In 2022, the number of deaths in the country was determined as 140,801 and new births as 76,541.
