Greek people demonstrate in support of Palestine in front of the Israeli Embassy
The crowd gathered in front of the Israeli Embassy in Athens with a message of "support for the Palestinian resistance".
Greek leftist groups who came to support the Palestinians living in Greece also took part in the demonstration where the police took intense security measures.
The demonstrators dispersed without any incident after the protest.
What happened?
On the morning of 7 October, the military wing of Hamas, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, launched a comprehensive attack on Israel under the name of "Aqsa Flood".
While thousands of rockets were fired from Gaza towards Israel, Palestinian armed groups stormed the Beit Hanoun-Erez Border Crossing on the Gaza-Israel border and seized it.
Armed groups then entered settlements inside Israel from here, and the Israeli army launched an attack on the Gaza Strip with dozens of warplanes.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that 687 people, 140 of whom were children, were killed and 3,726 people were injured in the Israeli attacks on Gaza.
Israeli forces have killed 16 Palestinians in Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank since 7 October.
In a statement made by the Israeli Foreign Ministry, it was stated that at least 900 Israelis were killed in the attacks from Gaza and 2,616 people were injured, 157 of them seriously.
