Greek National Day in Ankara after 5 years

The National Day of Greece was celebrated with a reception in Ankara after 5 years.
The reception, which started with the singing of the national anthems of the two countries hosted by Theodoros Bizakis, Ambassador of Greece to Ankara, was attended by Deputy Minister of Trade Mustafa Tuzcu, representatives of diplomatic missions in Ankara and many guests.
In his speech here, Tuzcu thanked Greece for its solidarity in the Kahramanmaraş-based earthquakes that occurred on 6 February and expressed his condolences for the flood disaster that occurred in Greece last year.
Mr Tuzcu thanked Ambassador Bizakis for his hospitality and said that they are determined to develop the relations between the two countries in a positive way.
Tuzcu reminded that Greek Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis is expected to visit Türkiye in May and emphasised the importance of this visit.
Reminding that Turkey and Greece are two neighbouring NATO members, Tuzcu said, "We attach great importance to Greece's continued support to Türkiye for Türkiye's full membership to the EU."
He drew attention to solidarity in natural disasters
Ambassador Bizakis pointed out that Turkey and his country have many common points.
Bizakis said that in the Türkiye-Greece relationship, the leaders of the two countries decided to explore ways to live as neighbours in a peaceful way, away from tensions, and stressed that this situation is important.
Bizakis stated that the people of Türkiye and Greece showed their sincere solidarity during the earthquakes of 6 February.
Referring to the areas of co-operation between the two countries, Bizakis added that Greece supports Turkey's accession process to the European Union (EU).
The reception ended with a catering programme.
