Greece wants to focus on unifying elements with Türkiye
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan wants to focus on what "unites" the two countries during his visit to Greece, scheduled for 7 December, State Minister Akis Skerços said.
Skerços stated that the issues of disagreement between the two countries are known to everyone and said, "We will not insist on these. We will try to find a common ground to eliminate the tension of the past four years."
"We planned this important meeting not to focus on disagreements, but to identify and focus on the issues that unite us with Türkiye," Skerços said, stressing that Greece's main concern is to establish good neighbourly relations, ensure peace on its borders and prevent migration flows.
Skerços reminded that both Türkiye and Greece have recently held general elections and that the leaders of both countries have expressed their intention to establish good neighbourly relations.
Turkish President Erdoğan is expected to visit Athens as part of the 5th High Level Cooperation Council (HLCC) meeting between Türkiye and Greece on 7 December.
