Greece calls for serious discussion on third-country participation in EU Defense Projects

Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias has emphasized the need for a serious and structured discussion on which third countries should be allowed to participate in the European Union’s joint defense initiatives.
Speaking to the press during an informal meeting of EU defense ministers held in Warsaw, Poland, Dendias reaffirmed Greece’s strong support for a common European defense framework.
“We must thoroughly consider which third countries are eligible to join European defense projects,” Dendias stated. “Participation must be limited to those who demonstrate a firm commitment to the principles and values upheld by the European Union.”
He further added that countries posing a threat to EU member states should be completely excluded from any involvement in Europe's defense architecture.
Dendias' remarks come amid growing discussions within the EU about expanding cooperation with external partners on defense matters, especially in light of recent global security challenges.
