According to the Institute of Geodynamics, the focal depth of the earthquake was estimated at 17.2 km.
An earthquake of 3.9 on the Richter scale was recorded by seismographers of the Geodynamic Institute off the island of Zakynthos.
The epicentre of the earthquake that occurred at 5.21 am was 20 kilometres southwest of Zakinthos.
