The Church of Greece leadership has called an emergency meeting on January 23 to discuss in detail the issue of same-sex marriage, ahead of a bill expected to be tabled by the governnment, they said on Thursday.

According to a statement published in AMNA, the Holy Synod will convene at 09:00 under the chairmanship of the Archbishop Hieronymos of Athens and All Greece. The issue, "Church and instituting marriage between persons of the same sex" will be the only item on the agenda.
