Chrysohoidis: 'We are protecting the border at Evros more and more every day'
Minister of Citizen Protection Mihalis Chrysohoidis attended a meeting in the Kastanis area with the Chief of the General Staff, the Commander of the Land Forces and local law enforcement authorities in the area.
Stating that 150 more border guards will be recruited to work in the Evros region, Hrisohoidis said that they are continuing the construction of the fence on the border.
"We continue to build the fence. We are protecting the borders at Evros and we are here to reassure the inhabitants of the region and all Greeks that our borders, the borders of Eastern Europe for which Greece is responsible, are more and more protected every day and are absolutely secure."
Chrysohoidis also met with the FRONTEX official in the region and thanked them for their contribution to the protection of European borders. Hrisohoidis, who also supervised the extension of the fence, said that the entire security infrastructure in the region will be technologically improved.
Chrysohoidis noted that the Evros region should be strengthened in every sense.
