Three European public prosecutors in Greece get term renewed

The College of European Prosecutors unanimously decided on a five-year renewal of terms for three European Delegated Prosecutors in the Athens office whose terms were soon expiring.

The 24-member College decided that European Delegated Prosecutors Popi Papandreou, Chariklia Thanou, and Dionyssis Mouzakis will continue their work at the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) in Greece, investigating a series of ongoing cases including that of the illegal farm subsidies by OPEKEPE.

The three prosecutors and their colleagues, who are appellate prosecutors, have been collecting extensive documentation on the OPEKEPE case and have acquired full and in-depth knowledge about the case currently in the news. The delegated prosecutors' office also works on other, ongoing, cases that have been placed under the supervision of the European Prosecutor's Office, as their financial aspect relates to the European Union's budget.

According to the EPPO Annual Report for 2024, there are 10 active European Delegated Prosecutors in Athens, with 9 National European Delegated Prosecutors' Assistants, working with dedicated and specialised investigators.
