The new pilot phase of the Digital Work Card launched in five new sectors

The next phase of Greece's Digital Work Card scheme came into effect on Monday, June 29, 2026, expanding the system to additional sectors as part of the government's efforts to strengthen labor market transparency and combat undeclared work.

The latest rollout covers consulting services, advertising and other office-based activities, repair services, warehousing and logistics operations, water and wastewater management, as well as the gambling sector.

The new phase will run on a pilot basis until Nov. 15, 2026, with full implementation scheduled to begin on Nov. 16.

As with previous expansions of the Digital Work Card system, authorities will conduct extensive consultations with industry representatives during the pilot period to fine-tune implementation and address the specific operational needs of each sector.

Labour and Social Security Minister Niki Kerameus said the Digital Work Card had proven to be an effective tool for protecting workers' rights and improving transparency in the labor market.

"The Digital Work Card ensures the accurate recording of actual working hours and the full payment of employees' legal remuneration," Kerameus said in a statement.

According to the minister, the measure has led to increases of up to 1,200% in declared overtime hours in certain sectors, while employers reported 2.7 million more overtime hours in 2025 compared with 2024.

"We protect workers, safeguard healthy businesses from unfair competition and effectively tackle undeclared and underreported employment," she added.
