Rumelia and Balkan associations visit the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye

The Federation of Black Sea Rumelia Associations and Balkan Rumelia Turks Confederation Federations met with Akif Çağatay Kılıç, Chief Foreign Policy and Security Advisor to the President of the Republic, IYI Party President Meral Akşener and MPs in Ankara and exchanged views on the developments in the Balkans.

Federation of Black Sea Rumelia Associations and Balkan Rumelia Turks Confederation Federations prepared and presented a dossier to Akif Çağatay Kılıç on various topics related to Western Thrace, the population exchange, Türkiye - Greece relations. Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Gagauzia and various issues were discussed in the meetings. In addition, on 7 December, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Athens at the point of solving the problems between the 2 countries on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the Exchange, the federation conveyed their request to be in the delegation.

After the visit, the soil and the flag taken from Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's house in the Consulate General of Turkey in Thessaloniki were presented to Akif Çağatay Kılıç. After the meeting, the delegation visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and made opinions and suggestions about the Balkans. The delegation also visited the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM) where AK Party Samsun MPs Orhan Kırcalı, Ersan Aksu, CHP Samsun MP Murat Çan, MHP Samsun MP Prof.Dr. İlyas Topsakal, CHP Tekirdağ MP İlhami Akgün and wished them success in the new legislative period.

Balkan NGO delegation then met with IYI Party Chairman Meral Akşener at IYI Party Headquarters. During the meeting, which lasted approximately 1.5 hours, they exchanged views on the political situation in Turkey, the upcoming local government elections, exchange and the Balkans. There was no scheduled meeting with CHP Chairman Özgür Özel due to his TRNC programme.
