Bulgaria bans vehicles with Russian licence plates from entering the country

In the statement published on the official website of the Customs Agency, it was reported that both the entry and transit of Russian-registered vehicles carrying up to 10 passengers were banned.
The Customs Agency, the Ministry of the Interior and the Border Police will be responsible for the supervision of this new ban, which was introduced on the proposal of the European Commission and imposed on Russia due to Russia's war against Ukraine.
It was noted that vehicles belonging to Russia's diplomatic missions will be excluded from the application.
It was announced that all other vehicles already in the country with Russian licence plates were given 6 months to leave Bulgaria.
Border Police Chief Superintendent Anton Zlatanov said in a statement that in addition to vehicles with Russian licence plates, a ban will also be imposed on some personal property belonging to Russian citizens, the list of which will be determined later.
Zlatanov noted that the number of vehicles with Russian licence plates entering Bulgaria is relatively small.
