Move comes after police squads conduct raids in northwestern Edirne province

Three suspects were remanded into custody in northwestern Turkey after five arrested for allegedly helping PKK and FETO terror group members flee to Greece.

The move came after police squads from combating migrant smuggling and human trafficking unit raided previously spotted locations in Edirne province, bordering Greece, said the sources, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Aside from the arrests, police seized five inflatable boats, a boat engine, life jackets and rifles during the operation, the sources said.

FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup on July 15, 2016, which left 251 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
