The U.S. and Israel announce military operation against Iran
Israel and the United States have announced the launch of a military operation against Iran. Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz stated that Israel had initiated a “preemptive strike” against Iran. U.S. President Donald Trump also declared, “We have launched a major operation against Iran.”
Explosions were reported in Iran’s capital, Tehran, following the Israeli strikes.
In his statement, Katz said, “Israel has launched a preemptive attack against Iran in order to eliminate threats directed at it,” adding that a nationwide state of emergency had been declared.
The Israeli military urged civilians to identify the nearest shelter and avoid unnecessary travel due to the security situation. It stated that the “proactive alert” was issued to prepare the public for possible missile attacks.
As of 08:14 a.m., sirens were sounding across Israel and emergency alerts were sent to all mobile phones nationwide.
Senior Iranian officials allegedly targeted
Israel’s Channel 12 television reported that multiple sites linked to the Tehran administration were targeted. The outlet also claimed that Israel had launched a second wave of attacks against Iran.
According to Israeli Army Radio, senior Iranian officials were among the targets. Channel 12, citing a security source, reported that the attacks on Iran could continue for several days.
Reports alleged that the strikes focused on regime-affiliated targets and military sites, and that all senior Iranian leaders were considered targets. It was also claimed that Iran’s Chief of General Staff, Major General Mousavi, was among those targeted.
Iranian Media: Multiple cities hit
Iranian media reported that, in addition to Tehran, the cities of Isfahan, Qom, Karaj, and Kermanshah were also targeted by Israeli strikes.
According to Iranian outlets, the attacks are ongoing. Following the start of the strikes, Tehran authorities completely closed Iranian airspace.
Iran vows retaliation
Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security Commission, Ebrahim Azizi, stated that Iran did not initiate the war but warned that its conclusion would not be in the hands of the opposing side.
In a post on the social media platform X, Azizi said Iran would retaliate against Israel’s attack.
In the first official statement from Tehran regarding the conflict, Azizi declared: “We had warned you before. You started this, but its ending will not be in your hands.”
Hospitals in Tehran on alert
Iranian Health Ministry spokesperson Hossein Kermanpour announced that hospitals in Tehran were placed on high alert after explosions were heard in the capital.
Speaking to the official Iranian news agency IRNA, Kermanpour said ambulances were dispatched to central districts of Tehran and hospitals were fully prepared.
“Following the sounds of explosions, ambulances were sent to central Tehran, and hospitals have been placed on alert,” he said.
He added that further information regarding potential casualties would be provided once details become clear.
Mossad calls on Iranians to share information
As Israeli strikes continued, Israel’s foreign intelligence service, Mossad, called on Iranian citizens to share photos and videos with them.
In a message posted on its Persian-language Telegram channel, Mossad stated: “Together, we will return Iran to its former glorious days.”
The statement also said that a high-security Telegram channel had been created specifically for this purpose and encouraged Iranians to share photos and videos “in the struggle against the regime.”
Israeli media reported that the ongoing attacks against Iran were being carried out jointly by Israel and the United States.
