Israeli Minister: "We are fighting humanoids and we will act accordingly"
According to the Israeli Defence Ministry, Gallant participated in the operational situation assessment at the Israeli army's Southern Command.
Stating that he gave instructions to the army, Gallant said, "Gaza will be completely blockaded. Electricity, food and fuel will not be provided."
The Israeli minister also compared the Palestinians to "animals" and said, "We are fighting humanoid animals and we will act accordingly."
While the Hebrew version of Gallant's speech actually included the expression "animals", the use of the word "barbarians" instead of "animals" in the English translation of the speech published by the Israeli army drew attention.
