Christians in East Jerusalem hold "Good Friday" service under the shadow of Israeli restrictions

Palestinian Christians in occupied East Jerusalem gathered under Israeli restrictions to mark "Good Friday," the day they believe Jesus Christ was crucified.
Hundreds of Christians walked through narrow streets in Jerusalem's Old City, heavily patrolled by Israeli police, towards the Church of the Holy Sepulchre to participate in the solemn event.
Due to Israeli restrictions, Palestinian Christians from the West Bank were not able to reach the city, meaning that most participants were either locals or foreign tourists.
For the past two years, due to ongoing Israeli military actions and tight restrictions, the observances have been marked by a somber and subdued atmosphere.
Christians believe that on Good Friday, Jesus Christ was crucified, and they observe the day with prayers and various religious ceremonies. The following day, Holy Saturday, commemorates the day Christians believe Jesus was buried in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
Before the Easter Sunday celebrations, Christians spend this day in reflection, prayer, and religious rituals.
