Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has sparked outrage after boasting about the mistreatment of Palestinian prisoners.
Ben-Gvir’s inhumane boast: “We make Palestinian prisoners sit on the floor, as they deserve”

Standing in front of a small cell where three Palestinian detainees were seen kneeling on the floor, Ben-Gvir declared:

“Palestinian prisoners are being made to sit on the floor, just as they deserve.”

Speaking mockingly about the prisoners, he added:

“They’ve been deprived of almost everything—no jam, no chocolate, no television or radio. We took everything from them. The only thing left is the death penalty.”

Hamas Condemns Ben-Gvir’s Remarks

In a written statement, Hamas condemned Ben-Gvir for his comments glorifying torture and demanding the execution of Palestinian detainees.

The statement said:

Ben-Gvir’s exposure of the abuse, torture, and threats of execution against Palestinian prisoners reveals the sadistic and fascist attitude of the occupying Israeli regime.”

Hamas emphasized that the crimes committed by Israeli officials against innocent Palestinians and detainees were being witnessed by the entire world:

“The bodies of Palestinian prisoners transferred from Israel to Gaza are unrecognizable due to the barbaric torture and inhumane treatment they endured. We call on the international community and all free people of the world to expose these crimes and bring these Nazi-like occupiers to international justice.”

A Pattern of Far-Right Aggression

Known for his repeated attacks and threats against Palestinians and Islamic holy sites, Ben-Gvir recently shared footage from a prison visit, standing before a poster showing the destruction in Gaza.

A day later, on October 21, he wrote on Telegram expressing hope that the “death penalty for terrorists” bill would soon be passed, adding:

“Until then, they will continue to live in prison under the conditions they deserve.”

Ben-Gvir also vowed to maintain detention conditions at the legal minimum and to make them even harsher to “increase deterrence.”

Earlier, he had threatened to withdraw support from the government if the death penalty bill was not brought to a parliamentary vote within three weeks.
