“Zero tolerance for not wearing helmets”

The General Regional Police Directorate of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace carried out 1,325 inspections between August 25 and 31, 2025, as part of the “Zero Tolerance for Not Wearing Helmets” campaign.
A total of 68 violations were recorded among motorcycle and light personal electric vehicle (LPEV) users.
Inspection Results
55 violations concerned motorcycle riders,
7 violations concerned passengers,
6 violations concerned LPEV riders.
The targeted checks were conducted by the traffic units of the Kumçiftliği (Orestiada), Dedeağaç (Alexandroupolis), Rodop (Rhodope), İskeçe (Xanthi), Kavala, and Drama police departments, focusing on mopeds, motorcycles, three-wheelers, cabless rental vehicles, and professional delivery drivers.
Awareness Campaign
In addition, police officers in Rhodope and Kavala held talks on the mandatory use of helmets, road safety, and traffic education, while distributing informational leaflets to residents.
The General Regional Police Directorate stressed in its message:
“Whether riding or riding as a passenger, we must always wear a helmet. Helmet use drastically reduces the risk of serious injuries in accidents, protecting riders.”
Authorities confirmed that inspections will continue across Eastern Macedonia and Thrace at full pace.
