Xanthi: Hotels closing, visitors turn to other regions

Mary Tsiakiroglou, President of the Federation of Professional, Craft, and Trade Associations of Xanthi, has raised concerns about the closure of hotels in Xanthi, which has led to an insufficient number of beds for tourists and visitors. As a result, they are seeking accommodations in neighboring regions.
Speaking to ERT, Tsiakiroglou expressed her worries about this situation, which has been ongoing for several years. “A city that aims to attract visitors and tourists—especially now that many Turkish visitors are coming to Xanthi—should not face such issues. It is unfortunate that they cannot stay, as accommodations are a key factor in boosting the economic activity of a region.”
She emphasized the need for a meeting involving all stakeholders in Xanthi to address this negative development and find solutions.
