Turkish and Greek artists share stage in Gümülcine at “Music Unites” concert
A powerful display of cultural cooperation unfolded in Gümülcine, where Turkish and Greek artists performed together at the “Music Unites” concert, highlighting the role of music in fostering cross-cultural dialogue.
Held on Sunday, March 22 at the Gümülcine Concert Hall, the event was organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of Greece.
A Blend of Musical Traditions
The concert featured soprano Tuğsem Mutlu and tenor Dimosthenis Fisturi, who performed a repertoire drawn from both Turkish and Greek musical traditions.
The program included works by prominent composers such as Cemal Reşit Rey, Ahmet Adnan Saygun, Manolis Kalomiris, and Yannis Konstantinidis.
They were accompanied on piano by Fatma Zeynep Eğilmez and academic pianist Thanasis Trikupis, who also contributed to shaping the artistic and scholarly framework of the event.
Academic and Institutional Collaboration
The concert was organized through a collaboration between Halic University and Democritus University of Thrace, with coordination by the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Music Educators Association.
Among the attendees was Aykut Ünal, Türkiye’s Consul General in Gümülcine, who delivered a speech during the event.
