Total votes of Turkish Minority MPs announced
Turkish candidates received a total of 26.109 votes in Rhodope and 17.841 votes in Xanthi.
The Minority Press investigated the performances of the Turkish minority member parliamentary candidates in the elections held in 2019 and 2023. According to the table that emerged, the votes received by Turkish candidates in the last election increased.
TURKISH CANDIDATES RECEIVED A TOTAL OF 43,950 VOTES IN WESTERN THRACE
In the elections held on 21 May Sunday, the parliamentary candidates from the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace received 43.950 votes in total.
The Turkish minority candidates in the province of Rhodope, who were nominated from different parties, received 26.109 votes, while the Turkish minority candidates in the province of Xanthi received 17.841 votes.
In 2019, a total of 25.433 votes were cast for the parliamentary candidates from the Turkish minority in the province of Rhodope, while this figure increased by 676 to 26.109 in the 21 May 2023 elections.
In the province of Xanthi, Turkish minority parliamentary candidates received 16,558 votes in the 2019 elections. This figure reached 17,841 with an increase of 1,283 votes in the last election.
ÖZGÜR FERHAT RECORDED THE BIGGEST INCREASE
The biggest increase in the province of Rhodope compared to the 2019 elections was recorded by the SYRIZA candidate Özgür Ferhat. Özgür Ferhat increased the 5.384 votes he received in the previous election to 12.680. Thanks to the votes received by Özgür Ferhat, the province of Rodopi was the only province where the SYRIZA Party came first in the country.
The biggest loss of votes in the province of Rodopi was experienced by İlhan Ahmet, the PASOK candidate who was expelled from the Consultative Committee of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace. Having received 10.866 votes in 2019, Ahmet's votes dropped to 6.035 in the 2023 elections.
In Xanthi province, the highest number of votes among the candidates from the Turkish minority was again received by Hüseyin Zeybek from SYRIZA, while PASOK candidate Burhan Baran increased his votes. Zeybek, who received 9.622 votes in 2019 elections, received 7.652 votes in these elections. Burhan Baran's votes increased from 2.136 to 3.922.

In the 21 May elections, the parliamentary candidates from the Turkish minority in the province of Rodopi received a total of 26.109 votes. The votes received by 11 Turkish minority candidates from six different political parties in Rhodope province totalled 26.109.
